A French name for the region which was named for a local Indian Tribe.  The Street was named for the State.

It comes from Alakshak, an Eskimo name for the area. This street was named after Alaska when it was still a territory.

 

Arkansas

The name given by the French for a Sioux Indian Tribe.  The name may mean "down stream People."  The street was named for the state.

Arizona

The name taken from an Indian name.  Arizonac, meaning "little springs" located in the southern part of the state.

California

Named by the Spanish.  The street was named for the state.

 

Colorado

A Spanish name meaning "colored reddish."  The name was first given to the river that flows through the state.  The street was named for the state.

It was named for Baron De La Warr, the first governor of Virginia (1610-1611) when it was an English Colony. The street named Delaware was for the Delaware Indians,  It was changed to Geyer and Allen.
